Yeah they will suffer. Many are investing massive sums to get into the
game with little guarantees for success or return . Vandy is ready to sink a ton in their department and they are awful at every sport except baseball(SEC contract is great but still not the magic panacea) . ND spent 450 million dollars on upgrades the last five years. Eventually the well will run dry, whether it is because the games long term effects on athletes or congress getting involved, or another myriad of reasons. Gardening was said tongue in cheek. But the reality is their are large barriers sitting out there for all schools no matter how large their following is.
The Big Ten market strategy is a dying concept. Like you stated there is a need for another business model, especially the ACC. Ultimately, no easy answers.
